I finished Richard Bachman’s The Regulators this afternoon.  I enjoyed the companion novel, written under Stephen King’s real name, Desperation much more.  The Regulators, for me, relied too heavily on imagination and someone else’s perceptions.  A seperate world is created by a deity and a child’s mind and I’m just not a fan of virtual reality or altered-states-type stuff.  Overall, I kept waiting for a knock-down, drag-out-fight between the main characters and the imaginary assassins sent to off them.  I admit that I liked the ending.  I appreciated that Bachman didn’t totally destroy the saviors and gave them some form of life in the end.

Typically, I love King/Bachman’s works.  However, this was not one of the my favorites.
